Creating Outdoor Living Spaces Since 2003
Landform was established in 2003 as a landscape construction company operating in Calgary and area. For over 10 years, our commitment to creativity, quality and efficiency has remained strong and has allowed us to focus on developing and refining our team, skills and offering. Today, we are very proud of our award-winning full service residential and commercial design and construction company.
Describe who Landform is?
Landform is a design+build landscape construction company that specializes in high-end residential and technical commercial landscape projects. We use creativity and experience to create outdoor spaces and features that are functional and beautiful. Our focus is on lasting quality of construction, flourishing plants and trees, and great experiences for our customers.
How do you want your customers to perceive Landform?
Whether our customers are home-owners, residential builders, or commercial builders, we want them to perceive us as the company that takes the pain out of landscape construction. We want to be perceived as professional, respectful, and competent. Landform should be perceived as the company that can be relied on to design and build great landscapes, treat people with respect, solve problems, and service our products, while making the process pleasant for our clients.
What do you believe differentiates Landform?
Design – Through our design process we are consistently able to provide unique, beautiful and functional landscapes to our clients. While we personally feel that our designs are among the best in Calgary and are very proud of it, our design product is confirmed by our awards, accolades and testimonials.
Service – Our company is unique in our ability to service our clients, in that we are better equipped and larger than the boutique landscape companies which are typically owner/operator. We are particularly well-suited to service high-end builders, as we can give their clients the level of service and high-end detail in their landscape, but can also send machines to our builders for sub-grading, trenching, deal with compaction and grade issues, and provide labour as required. Larger companies cannot handle the level of detail required in these builds, and smaller companies are not equipped to service the needs of the builders. Our experience in technical commercial construction (i.e. C-train retaining walls, etc…) translates to proper construction techniques on residential sites. We use the same engineering and building principles on all our sites. This experience is unique in the residential market.
People – Our employees are well-mannered and treat our clients, their families, and their neighbours with respect. We understand the stresses that go along with construction and do our best to alleviate them. Our policy is to leave a clean site at the end of each day. We have an extensive equipment maintenance program that results in fewer leaks, breakdowns, smoke and excessive noise.
Ben Mercer – Partner, Construction Manager
Beginning his career in landscaping construction in 1993 as a summer job while getting his degree in Philosophy, Ben realized early that being outdoors while he made money was going to be an essential component of his career. Over the past 20 years, Ben has worked through all aspects of the industry and has managed crews of various sizes through all types of construction projects, from high-end residential to large scale commercial.
Ben graduated as the Valedictorian from Strathcona-Tweedsmuir School in MD Foothills. In the following years, he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from the University of Calgary.
Chris Chetcuti – Partner, Design Manager
Chris has worked in landscape design and construction since 1994. Similar to his business partner Ben, he found passion in components of what he studied and soon turned his learnings in ergonomics into a career in design. His passion and vast experience in management and design has resulted in many award-winning residential projects and has established him as a sought after landscape designer in the Calgary area.
Chris earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, with honours, for the University of Dalhousie in Halifax, where he focused on ergonomics. His applied skill has led him to become accredited in Computer Assisted Drawing and Design.
